What is PRP?
A small sample of your blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This is then placed back into the skin, either by fine injections or alongside microneedling. Because it comes from your own blood, no synthetic product is used.
Who it may suit
People with dull or tired-looking skin, fine lines or uneven texture, including around the eyes. It is not suitable for people with some blood or clotting disorders, those taking certain medicines such as blood thinners, during pregnancy, or where there is infection at the treatment site.
What happens on the day
Devie takes a small blood sample, prepares the plasma while numbing cream takes effect, then treats the area. Allow about an hour in total.
Aftercare and recovery
Expect redness, mild swelling and small bumps for a day or two. Avoid make-up for 12 to 24 hours, and avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and strong sun for 48 hours. Use a high-SPF sunscreen daily.
Risks and side effects
Common: bruising where the blood is taken and at treatment points, redness, swelling and tenderness. Infection is rare. All risks are explained at your consultation.
Questions
