What is lip filler?
Lip filler uses a soft hyaluronic acid gel to add subtle volume, define the border of the lips, improve hydration or help balance uneven lips.
Devie's approach
Devie starts conservatively and can build over appointments if you want more. Nothing is decided on the day without a conversation first, and she will tell you honestly if she thinks less is better.
What happens on the day
Numbing cream is applied and most lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic. Lips are a sensitive area, so Devie works at your pace and you can take a breather at any point.
Aftercare and recovery
Avoid hot food and drinks until any numbness wears off, and avoid lip products, strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours. Swelling is usually at its most noticeable the next morning and settles over a few days.
Risks and side effects
Common: swelling, tenderness, bruising and small lumps that usually settle. If you get cold sores, tell Devie at your consultation, as treatment can trigger one. Less common but serious complications are explained in full before treatment.
Questions
Does lip filler hurt?
Lips are sensitive, so most people feel some discomfort. Numbing cream and the anaesthetic in the filler help, and Devie gives you breaks whenever you need them.
I've never had it before. Where do I start?
With a consultation. Devie will look at your lips in proportion to the rest of your face and suggest a subtle starting point.
